Packages Of Mixed Salad Greens Recalled

A nationwide distributor has issued a voluntary recall over salmonella concerns of its packaged mixed salads.

Taylor Farms Retail Inc. recalled 3,265 cases that could potentially be contaminated with salmonella after the Washington State Agriculture Department conducted a random test on a package of spinach.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, salmonella can cause cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and elderly people.

It can also cause fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

No illnesses have been reported.

The California-based company distributes its bags of mixed greens under different brands.

Fresh Selections, HEB, Marketside and Taylor Farms are all included in the recall with the “best by” dates ranging from October Oct. 18 through October to Oct. 21.
