Police Arrest 3 Men In Shooting At Shooters Billiards

Three men beat and stabbed a man before shooting him in the leg early Sunday at Shooters Billiards in Central El Paso, police said.

Investigators with the El Paso Police Department’s gang unit said the three men got into an argument with the victim and began to assault the him. The 44-year-old man received stab wounds and was punched and kicked. That’s when police said the three men left the bar, returned with a handgun and shot the man in the leg.

The three men were arrested on suspicion of engaging in organized criminal activity and criminal attempted murder. They were booked into the El Paso County Jail.

Juan Villegas, 36, of the 4500 block of Sunrise Avenue is being held on a $150,422 bond; Jesus Luna Jr., 30, of the 1000 block of Forrest Street is being held on a $150,854 bond; and Matthew Barajas, 23, of the 2600 block of Mobile Avenue is being held on a $101,502 bond.

Because the investigation is ongoing, mugshots have not been made available, though investigators said they expect more arrests in this case.
