Update: Saturday Crash Victim Identified

The El Paso Police Department has identified the woman killed in a wreck Saturday on Loop 375.

El Paso police spent most of the early-morning hours on Saturday at the scene of a deadly wreck in far east El Paso.

The single-vehicle wreck happened just after 1:00 a.m. on Loop 375 near the Liberty Expressway.

An investigation by police revealed Marisela Aguilera, 26, was driving at a high rate of speed in the right lane of Loop 375 and passed another vehicle. When the woman attempted to cross into the left lane, she ended up in the median and lost control of the vehicle.

Police said the car rolled over several times, ejecting Aguilera, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and finally came to rest on the guard rail.

Aguilera was taken to Del Sol Medical Center, but eventually succumbed to her injuries.

The area was closed to traffic for several hours, but Loop 375 is now open.

Investigators are looking into whether speed or alcohol were factors.
