Raul Martinez

Raul got his big break in sports journalism at the age of 17, when he was given the opportunity to do the ABC 7 sports segment by then-sports Director Lou Romano. From that point on, he was hooked.

Raul was born and raised in El Paso, went to Cathedral High School and graduated in 1999. He then earned a degree in journalism at Texas Christian University, and received a masters degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University.

“I am a big sports fan,” Raul says. “I’ve played soccer, basketball and golf for most of my life.” He is also a Dallas Cowboys, Mavericks and Texas Rangers fan.

Raul has now realized his dream and is the sports director for ABC 7.
