Power Outage Affects 1,600 Customers

Hundreds of El Pasoans lost power early Friday morning when a transformer blew up in West El Paso. El Paso Electric Spokesman Henry Quintana told ABC-7 1,600 customers were affected.

At the center of the problem was the transformer at the Cromo Drive substation, which serves the Resler area.

Scattered showers in West El Paso made the electric company workers’ jobs more difficult Friday morning, although the rain had stopped by 11 a.m. when power was restored.

Quintana said a burned cable caused the outage.
