El Paso Murder Rate Increases In 2011

The El Paso Police Department released its El Paso murder statistics for 2011, showing an increase in the number of murders since 2010.

There were 16 murders in the city in 2011, more than three times the number in 2010, when the city only reported 5 murders.

In the past five years, El Paso has averaged 14 murders per year. The 10-year average is 15 murders, and the 51-year average is 24 murders.
