Martin Luther King Day Closures

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the following have announced closures or schedule changes on Monday:

? The University of Texas at El Paso will be closed.

? El Paso Community College will be closed.

? New Mexico State University will be closed.

? Dona Ana Branch Community College will be closed.

? Schools in the Anthony, Gadsden, El Paso, Ysleta, Socorro, Clint, San Elizario, Fabens, Tornillo, Fort Hancock and Van Horn school districts and Las Cruces Public Schools will be closed.

? The El Paso Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed. Senior Centers and Daycare Operations will be closed. Sports Centers will be open. All recreation centers will be closed with the exception of -Armijo: 1-9 p.m.

-Galatzan: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

-Gary del Palacio: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

-Leona Ford Washington: 1-9 p.m.

-Marty Robbins: 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.

-Pavo Real: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

-Veterans: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

? Sun Metro will operate on a regular schedule. The fixed route and LIFT, paratransit, services will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Sun Metro ticket offices also will be open. The Bert Williams Downtown Santa Fe Transfer Center, 601 Santa Fe, will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Eastside Transit Terminal, 1165 Sunmount, will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The administrative offices will be closed.

? The city of El Paso Environmental Services landfill, at 2300 Darrington Road, will be closed. It will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday. The landfill is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Citizen Collection Stations (CCS), or drop-off sites are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The holiday will not impact trash and recyclables collections. Residents will have their garbage and recyclables collected on their scheduled collection day.

? All public libraries will be closed, and will resume regular hours on Tuesday.

? City Hall will be closed. Offices will resume regular schedules on Tuesday — 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. City Council will also take place at its new scheduled start time of 8:30 am.

? The El Paso Zoo will be open on Monday. The zoo will be on a regular schedule, opening at 9:30 a.m. The Last ticket will be sold at 4 p.m.; zoo closed at 5 p.m.

? The city of El Paso Department of Public Health and program sites will be closed. The following sites will also remain closed on Tuesday:

-Henderson, Canutillo, Sunrise, Westside, Pershing, North Loop, and the Fort Bliss WIC Centers, as well as the WIC Mobile Unit

-All Immunization Clinics (The Tigua clinic will also be closed on Wednesday)

-Rawlings Pediatric Dental Clinic.

? The Mexican Consualte General in El Paso will be closed.

? The city of El Paso Animal Services Program Animal Shelter, at 5001 Fred Wilson, will be closed. If the public needs assistance related to finding lost pets, they may call 842-1000. A skeleton crew of Animal Services call-takers will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Animal-related emergencies should be reported by calling police non-emergency dispatch at 832-4400. Animal Services officers will be on-call on the holiday to respond to serious animal-related calls. The Animal Services program will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday.

? Most Dona Ana County offices will be closed. Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected, but the administrative offices of the Doa Ana County Sheriff’s Department will be closed. Saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints will be conducted in the field.

? Most city of Las Cruces offices will be closed. Emergency services such as fire and police will not be affected. -Transit and Rideshare offices will be closed, however there will be regular bus and Dial-a-Ride service.

-Senior Programs will be closed.

-Solid Waste offices are closed, however normal trash pickup will resume.

-Branigan Memorial Library will be closed.

-All recreation centers including Frenger Pool and the Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center will be closed.

-All museums will be closed.

-The Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley will be open for regular hours from 12 to 5:30 p.m.

-The South Central Solid Waste Authority Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be open for regular hours from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

-The city council regular meeting will be held at 1 p.m. January in the city council chambers.
