Meetings On Quality Of Life Bond Issuance Held This Week

Twelve years after the city approved a multimillion dollar bond issuance to improve the El Paso Zoo, the main library downtown, and various parks, city officials are asking for voters to approve another bond issuance to improve quality of life.

“It’s really to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of El Paso,” Assistant City Manager Debbie Hamlyn told ABC-7. “It’ll be things like libraries, parks, open space, trails, public art, signature projects downtown.”

The bond ranges from $200 million to $400 million dollars and has not been finalized.

Monday night marks the beginning of an onslaught of public meetings where residents are encouraged to attend and give input on projects they would like to see funded.

“What kind of big, bold initiatives would we like to see, perhaps in downtown,” Hamlyn said. “Incentives to bring people to El Paso and to really give citizens here an opportunity to participate.”
