Silver Alert Cancelled, Missing Woman Found In Mexico

The 74-year-old woman missing from far-East El Paso since Saturday morning, has been found alive in Juarez.

According to El Paso Police officials, 74-year old Ofelia Goss was found by Mexican law enforcement agents in Juarez Sunday. Mexican law enforcement officials say Goss was found walking in Juarez and placed in a shelter.

The El Paso Police Department and the Crimes Against Persons had issued a Silver Alert Saturday morning after Goss’ family notified them she had gone missing. According to family members Goss, who left home with her white poodle, suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia.

EPPD official said that their investigators met with Goss, her dog, and a relative at the Zaragoza Bridge late Monday morning. Officials went on to say that Goss was safe and appeared unharmed.

In a news release to ABC-7, EPPD’s Public Information Officer Darrel Petry added, “the El Paso Police Department would like to say thank you to all the citizens who called in tips, to the law enforcement community that assisted with various resources, and to the local media who kept the information regarding Ofelia Goss in the public’s eye.
