DEVELOPING: Suspect In El Pasoan’s Murder In Austin Is Dead, Police Say
A man who died in an apparent suicide has been identified as a possible suspect in several attacks and the murder of an El Paso woman in south Austin.
Detectives responded to the 3000 block of Guadalupe, where James Loren Brown, was found dead. He was discovered by his roommate, who returned home after a holiday break
The house was a short distance from the 3100 block of King Street, which is where former El Pasoan Esmeralda Barrera was murdered the early hours of Jan 1, 2012.
Another woman had been assaulted about 30 minutes before the murder in the same block.
Austin police said DNA evidence and crime-scene description make Brown a suspect in several similar attacks that date back to late summer, as well as Barrera’s murder. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information on Brown, or anyone who made contact with him on New Year’s Eve or during the early part of January 2012 is asked to call the Austin Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588.
