2012 Children’s Miracle Network Telethon Raises Thousands For El Paso Children

Today is the day for El Pasoans to show that we value specialized, state-of-the-art medical care for our community’s children.

The 2012 Children’s Miracle Network Spring Telethon is taking place right now at the KVIA studios in west El Paso.The non-profit organization is aiming to raise $75,000 dollars for the El Paso Children’s Hospital.

Dozens of volunteers, from the El Paso Roller Girls, to Children’s Hospital staff, to many concerned residents of the Sun City have been working the phone bank in the ABC-7 studio. It has been a busy day for those vlolunteers and the organizers. Preparations for this event actually began months ago.

With the main part of the broadcast now over, borderland residents have donated more than $41,000 dollars. Dennece Knight, Executive Director of the University Medical Center Foundation, says today’s effort, though not over yet, has been a great success.”With the money that we’ve raised today we’ll be able to purchase important equipment to keep providing the best quality medical care for the children of our region. I’m very grateful for the support of this community, ” Knight said.

Volunteers will keep taking phone calls until 10:00 p.m. The grand total of the day’s fundraising efforts will be announced during our ABC-7 at Ten newscast.
