Garcia Wins Democratic Primary For NM State Senate District 36

In the Democratic primary for State Senate District 36, longtime incumbent Mary Jane Garcia defeated challenger Oscar Vasquez Butler.

Garcia, who has held the seat for 24 years, said she will focus on job creation if re-elected. Butler said he hopes Garcia can expand her focus to include more parts of Dona Ana County.

Garcia will face Republican Lee Cotter in November
