1 Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting In Lower Valley
One person is dead in an officer-involved shooting, according to El Paso Police spokesman Chris Mears.
The shooting occurred near Prado and Alameda in the Lower Valley on Friday morning.
Mears said police received a call from a citizen around 8 a.m. about a suspicious man. The man then allegedly pulled a knife and went toward the police officer. The officer shot and killed the man.
Per protocol, the officer has been put on administrative duty. Mears said he believes its the first shooting a veteran of in about 12 years. Texas Rangers have begun to help with the investigation along with El Paso Police’s Crimes Against Persons.
Police said they have a lot of witnesses, but did not say why so many people were out.
