EP Heavyweight Injured Ahead of July Bout

Press Release “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE” David El Nino Rodriguez

David Rodriguez recently sustained a serious knee injury while training for his upcoming fight. His symptoms, primarily progressive pain, have prevented him from training in order to be fully prepared for next month’s fight.

David will undergo arthroscopic surgery to the knee in order to treat the injury described as as a full thickness articular cartilage injury. There are multiple loose bodies in the knee, as well as unstable tissue which will be removed and resected during the procedure.

The procedure will include “micro-fracture’ technique intended to regenerate cartilaginous tissue. The procedure will take place in El Paso, TX and will be performed by Dr. Luis Urrea of El Paso Orthopaedic Surgery Group.

Aggresive post operative rehabiliation will be vital and key to David’s full recovery.

“David has great potential to return to his World Class Boxing level following the surgery and rehabilitation. I have a high level of confidence in his healing potential” stated Dr. Urrea. This injury will cause a delay in David’s plan to be the heavyweight boxing champion of the world, but it will NOT stop his return to the ring and reaching his ultimate goal.

Prior to this injury, David’s training was progressing full speed and he was ready to do battle with any opponent. His training had proven a complete recovery from the facial injury he sustained earlier this year.
