Woman accused of murder due in court Monday
A woman accused of killing her husband is expected in court Monday.
Laura Juarez, 32, is charged with murdering her husband, Salvador Juarez, 34, on Feb. 11, 2012.
According to the arrest affidavit ABC-7 obtained shortly after her arrest, Juarez called 911 the morning of Feb. 12 and told the operator her husband wasn’t waking up.
Juarez had stated they had been drinking the night before and got into an argument outside their Lower Valley apartment. She told the operator he was so intoxicated, she had to drag him back into their apartment.
According to the affidavit, when police arrived at the apartment that morning, they stated it was clear that Salvador Juarez was hit by a vehicle and pinned against a gate.
Officers stated in the affidavit that Laura Juarez eventually admitted to killing her husband. Juarez told police they were fighting and it turned physical. She said Salvador left the apartment on foot, and she got into her SUV to look for him around the apartment complex.
Once she spotted him, police said she drove toward him and knocked him to the ground. Investigators say Juarez took her husband back to their apartment where he died.
Opening statements will be delivered Monday morning.
