Two men arrested after alleged possession of controlled substances

Two men were arrested Thursday by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team, officials said.

Ricardo Lopez and Juan Eulogio Lopez were arrested on the 3600 block of Vanderveer, after officials executed a search warrant on the location.

The two men possessed a controlled substance, likely cocaine, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials were in the area due to street level narcotics being sold at the location, officials said.

The arrest of Ricardo Lopez led to additional arrests after the warrant was served, and the location searched.

Lopez reportedly attempted to flee from the deputies, and was found in a bathroom.

This lead to additional charges of escape and obstruct/retaliation. Officials said Lopez made verbal threats to an arresting deputy.

Juan Lopez’s bonds were set collectively at $70,000.

Ricardo Lopez’s bonds were higher, due to the additional charges, and came to a total of $235,000.
