Who was Lisbeth Ann Garrett? Co-worker describes the 74-year-old

Gina Warswick knew Lisbeth Ann Garrett since the 80’s, when she was a freshmen at Eastwood High.

“No, no I don’t believe this at all,” said Warswick, a former Eastwood student and teacher. “I think this is a really foul mistake.”

When Warsick learned Lisbeth Ann Garrett was charged with the murder of her husband, she told ABC-7 she was in utter disbelief.

“It has to be a mistake,” she said. “The woman was all of 5-foot-nothing and has always had a history of bad health problems related to her movement. A story about someone being stabbed 10-times, blunt force, just couldn’t seem to happen from Ms. Garrett.”

Warswick says Garrett was a reserved woman, who hobbled down the long hallways of Eastwood using a cain or motorized wheelchair. Garrett wasn’t a favorite of students during her career lasting from 1984-2005. Warswick said she was firm, but fair. The two became friends when Warwick began working at Eastwood, a rare relationship.

“She was always looking for a friend,” Warswick said. “I don’t think she had very many because she was such a quiet woman.”

So quiet in fact, that Warswick never learned much about her in 34 years. The two talked solely aboutschool and sickness, something Garrett constantly struggled with. She retired from Eastwood in 2005, before the school year ended, because of the bad state of her health.

“I don’t think she talked about her family once in all the time I knew her,” Warswick said.
