Warrant issued in NM statutory rape case

Doa Ana County Sheriff’s investigators released the name and photo of a man they believe sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in her home last weekend.

Marcos Anthony Moncayo, 22, also goes by the name Tony. A judge has issued a warrant for Moncayo’s arrest, with a $100,000 cash bond.

Investigators say Moncayo and an unknown accomplice met the teenaged girl and her twin sister on the social networking site, MocoSpace.com.

According to the investigation, the men met the twins at their home in the East Mesa of Las Cruces on Jan. 12. The girls admitted to detectives that the twins had told the men they were 20-year-old women, but came clean about their true age when they arrived at the girls’ home.

Investigators say Moncayo gave the girls alcohol before engaging in sexual activity with one of them. When the parents came home, the men hid in a closet, only to burst past their mother and jump out a window when they were discovered.

Moncayo is wanted on ten felony counts, including criminal sexual penetration, criminal sexual contact of a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Investigators are still working on identifying the other man who is allegedly involved in the incident.
