Family members remember victim of deadly hit-and-run
23-year-old Miriam Aguirre was outgoing, outspoken, and above all a loving mother, said her common-law husband, Tony Vega.
Aguirre was just one of the five people standing outside of a party in the Lower Valley around 1 a.m. Sunday, when they were run over, allegedly by 19-year-old Miguel Tinoco.
Court documents tell of an escalating confrontation that started with an argument between Tinoco and several unnamed partygoers, and ended with Aguirre’s death and serious injury to the four other pedestrians.
“(Aguirre) left behind a two year old son, and he’s asked for her. We don’t know what to say,” said Vega’s cousin, Mario Garcia. “Seeing my cousin break down, it’s really hard. I would never wish this to happen to anybody.”
Vega’s cousin said that Aguirre and Vega were in the middle of planning the wedding ceremony of their dreams and had recently set the date for December 1st.
Tinoco’s bond is set around $300,000. He’s facing a murder charge for Aguirre’s death and multiple counts of aggravated assault.
