Steelers’ Sean Kugler likely new UTEP coach

The University of Texas El Paso football team may have their new head football coach.

Rumors surfaced Friday that a coaching candidate was in talks with UTEP’s Athletic Director Bob Stull.

Overnight, ABC-7’s Asher Wildman received reports that Sean Kugler would be the next coach.

Pete Roussel, who is recognized as one of the most trusted experts in coaching transactions, has also confirmed that Kugler accepted the head coach position with UTEP.

Kugler’s name is now being connected to the job by multiple websites, including Football Scoop, Steel Blitz, SBNation, and Steelers Depot.

Blitz is a fan website of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the NFL team Kugler iscurrently an offensive line coach for.

UTEP has not confirmed the suspicions that Kugler will be the next coach.

Kugler is a former UTEP football player.

Friday there were also talks of Dan Hawkins for the position. He was formerly with Colorado University.
