Mayoral candidates head for run-off and so do their expenses

All the campaigns and all the support it takes to run an election can carry a hefty price tag.

ABC-7looked up finances on both Oscar Leeser and Steve Ortega.

According to Ortega’s campaign finance reports he started collecting political contributions inOctober 2012.

Up until eight days before the election the reports show Ortega collected $239,779.

The number of voters who cast ballots for Ortega amounted to 9,994.

That means he spent a little more than $21 per vote.

The report alsoshows Ortega still has $23,496.24 left for his campaign.

According to Leeser’s reports he started collecting political contributions in March of 2013.

Up until eight days before the election the report shows Leeser collected $207,294.70.

According to the County Elections website, the number of voters that voted for Leeser totaled 21,724.

Leeserspent close to $9 per vote.

Leeser’s report shows he has about $24,173.66 left for his runoff campaign.

The candidates can still collect contributions for the run-off.

Now it becomes a race to collect money and campaign.

The run off is expected to take place June 15th.
