Hundreds pack downtown for Las Cruces Country Music Festival

Country music lovers shut down Main Street in Las Cruces for the first-ever country music festival.

Hundreds of country music fans attended the first night of the weekend-long event.

When the weather started to cool down, people started letting loose.

People of all ages were dancing and singing in the street.

Local businesses like the Main Street Bistro benefited from the crowd.

Decked out in cowboy hats and boots, country fans were in their element.

Many people hope this will become an annual event.

“It’s going so great. We’re having so much fun. I still have yet to dance. I’m waiting,” said Las Crucen Serena Martinez.

“I just love how its open-air. There’s plenty of space to dance, just sit and watch. It’s a lot of fun. I feel like it brings the community together. It just creates a feeling of awesome fun,” said Josh Anklan, another concert-goer.

Three country artists performed on Friday night.

The festival continues on Saturday, with another concert starting at 6 p.m.

Apart from concerts, the festival will include other event including a brunch and fashion show. For more information, go to www.lccountryfest.com.

Tickets are $35 for one night or $60 for a weekend pass. They can be purchased at the gate.
