El Paso Police: Three arrested in drug-related homicide
Police arrested three suspects in El Paso’s fifth homicide of the year.
Around 2 p.m. Friday police said 22-year old Jose Castanon was found dead inside his home on the 2600 block of Hamilton.
Officers were called to the scene for an “unknown problem” when they found Castanon’s body.
An investigation by the crimes against persons unit determined 21-year-old Sonia Bautista, 21-year-old Ricardo Macias, and 18-year-old Brianna Garay were involved in Castanon’s death, officials said.
Police said the three suspects were involved in a confrontation with Castanon concerning ecstasy pill sales.
Bautista, Macias, and Garay worked together to kill Castanon after the confrontation became physical, police said in a release.
According to officials, the three suspects stole money and illegal narcotics from Castanon as well.
Bautista, Macias, and Garay were arrested and charged with capital murder.
They have been booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
All three suspects have bonds set at $100,000.
Macias was also booked on outstanding traffic warrants.
Police said this is the fifth homicide of the year, compared to 10 last year the same time.
