El Paso Police identify 2 men killed in Saturday morning crash during street race

Two men were killed in a traffic collision Saturday morning in the 3900 block of Delta.

The men’s names have been released.

El Paso Police say that shortly after 8 a.m. a Ford F-150 was westbound on Delta, allegedly racing a silver Ford Escort with both vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.

The driver of the Ford F-150 has been identified as 20-year old Ismael Baca. Baca died at the scene of the collision.

Front seat passenger, 26-year old Jesus Espino was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) where he died. Backseat passengers David Yescas and Angel Salinas were transported to UMC for treatment.

El Paso Police’s Special Traffic Investigators (STI) said that the driver of the silver Ford Escort did not stop at the scene and believe that speed was a factor in the collision.STI continues to seek the public’s assistance in the identification of the silver Ford Escort and the driver of that vehicle.

STI is asking that anybody with information regarding the whereabouts of the Ford Escort or the driver to call the El Paso Police Department at (915) 832-4400. These are the 20th and 21st traffic fatalities of 2013 compared to 23 at this same time in 2012. This investigation continues…
