Man in hospital after police involved car crash

A man is in the hospital with serious head injuries after his car was hit a police vehicle.

Investigators said Sunday morning a police officer was traveling eastbound on North Loop, with the emergency lights on. The officer was on his way to help another.

At the same time a silver Nissan was merging on to North Loop from the 500 block of Mockingbird. That’s when the Nissan was struck by the police vehicle, according to police reports.

The El Paso Police Department reports three people were inside the Nissan. One passenger was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries.

The police officer, a 12 year veteran of the department, also suffered minor injuries.
