Update: Suspect in El Paso’s West Side homicide investigation interviewed in Las Cruces
The El Paso Police Department is investigating a shooting death that occurred late Monday at a West El Paso park. They are treating the incident as a murder.
The man killed is 18-year-old Saeed Nami of El Paso.
ABC-7’s New Mexico Mobile Newsroom confirmed Tuesday night Las Cruces Police served a warrant in the Park Place apartments in south Las Cruces for a suspect in the homicide. The source in the Las Cruces PD told ABC-7 El Paso Police detectives were in Las Cruces interviewing the man.
Police say the preliminary investigation revealed officers responded to a shots fired call at a park in the 6300 block of Palo Verde.
Nami died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Police have not reported any arrests in the case.

ABC-7 also learned Nami was facing drug-related charges. A grand jury indicted him on four counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. According to court records, the charges against 18-year-old Saeed Alex Nami stemmed from four incidents on December 19, January 9 and 14, and February 7. He was indicted February 26. He pleaded not guilty.
