Update: 9-year-old boy killed on bicycle has been identified

A 9-year-old boy died Thursday night after he was struck by an SUV, El Paso police said.

He has been identified as Jose Cordova.

The boy was riding his bicycle near the corner of Raynor Street and the 3000 block of Jefferson Avenue when he was hit by a Ford SUV just before 8 p.m.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Police say the woman driving the SUV did stop after the collision and that speed and alcohol are factors in this crash.

This is the 30th traffic related death of 2013 compared to 35 at this same time in 2012.
