See range of insurance premiums offered for El Pasoans through Affordable Health Care Act

The federal government’s database of health insurance plans for El Pasoans under the new Affordable Care Act shows 47 available policies.

There are only three health insurance companies providing these plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Molina Healthcare and Ambetter from Superior Health.

The premiums range from $119 to $319 for someone who’s 27 years old. For a 50-year old adult, the premiums range from $202 a month to $534. These estimates don’t reflect the federal subsidies people will be eligible for once they apply or their exact age. The government may pay for some of the premium, depending on factors like income, age, location and family size.

It’s still unclear how much people will pay in deductibles because the government’s website is still down.
