4-year-old killed when engine hoist falls on her; 3-year-old boy also injured

Two small children were injured – one of them fatally – when an engine hoist fell on them Oct. 20 in a backyard in Clint.

El Paso Sheriff’s Office Commander Paul Cross told ABC -7 that the children, who are brother and sister, were reportedly playing in the home’s backyard when the accident occurred.

The 4-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy were both taken to Del Sol Medical Center where the girl was pronounced dead that day. The boy’s condition is not known.

At the hospital on Oct. 20 a law enforcement official told ABC-7 that some family members who learned of the girl’s death became distraught and did some damage inside the hospital before they continued a violent outburst outside the hospital.

The names of the children and family have not been released.
