Wife in critical condition after husband allegedly pushes her off balcony

Neighbors heard fighting before a soldier allegedly pushed his soldier wife off of a third story apartment balcony in East El Paso Saturday night, according to an El Paso Police affidavit.

“Investigation revealed that the witnesses heard the defendant and victim arguing in their upstairs apartment …,” according to the affidavit. “Banging and a female screaming was heard by the witnesses.”

Geomel Shaffa has been charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer.

Both soldiers are stationed at Fort Bliss.

The victim was transported to Del Sol Medical Center where she is in critical condition. She suffered a collapsed right lung, fractured right ribs, and a broken back. She also suffered a fractured skull with bleeding to the brain.
