Complete temporary closure for Country Club Road
The ongoing construction on Country Club Road in El Paso’s upper valley is enough to cause congestion, traffic and headaches.
It may get even more difficult for commuters and residents to get around after the city engineering department announced a complete closure of Country Club Rd.
Currently, only one lane is open, allowing drivers to only go south on Country Club Rd.
To head north to Interstate 10, drivers must take an alternate route.
In a news release, city officials said it was an unforeseen move after telephone lines and other infrastructure was discovered underground by work crews.
City officials said AT&T did notpreviously identify the underground infrastructure.
The closure of Country Club Rd. is expected to begin Monday, November 18 and continue until March of 2014.
The $14 million project started in Augustto replace aging water, wastewater, and natural gas lines.
It is expected to be completed in February of 2015.
Residents who live off of Country Club Rd. and Yucca Place will have access to their property at all times, as will emergency services.
A community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12 at 5:30pm at Isaron Hall located at 1071 Country Club Rd.
