Las Cruces man arrested on multiple sex charges

A Las Cruces man is behind bars facing more than 15 charges from two separate incidents.

Police arrested Jaime Moore, 22, on Wednesday for a number of charges stemming from a stolen handgun.

According to investigators, the charges stemming from the gun are just the tip of the iceberg. Moore was already on the Las Cruces Police Department’s radar after a months-long sex crime investigation linking him to a young girl and two other children.

“It feels good, as a police department, we know that we do have somebody who is responsible for several crimes in the city — several heinous crimes against minors — so it feels good for us that we’ve protected the community,” said police spokesman Dan Trujillo.

Court documents obtained by ABC-7 said police spoke with an alleged victim back in June. The girl, whose name is not being released by ABC-7, told investigators that Moore asked the girl repeatedly if he could take her virginity. She told a detective that he eventually forced himself onto her multiple times.

Moore is also accused of touching another child while raping the alleged victim, and in other instances making three children sit in a room while he masturbated.

Moore is facing five counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor, among other charges.

At last check Moore was being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
