Library forgiving late fees through Jan. 18

The El Paso Public Library is forgiving late fees through Jan. 18. The goal is to encourage prodigal book borrowers to return with books in hand.

The library’s 13 branches are currently missing about 28,000 items — roughly $200,000 in outstanding late fees.

Patrons can also cut down their total late fees by bringing in canned food items as part of the MLK Canned Food Drive. Every item shaves $1 off their debts — limit $5 per day.
