3 people killed in shooting near Police Headquarters identified
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Three people are dead, including the alleged shooter, after the shooting near El Paso Police Headquarters on Wednesday. Police say the shooter, 28-year-old Uriel Ontiveros, killed himself.
The two victims killed in the shooting are 21-year-old Mia Molina and 27-year-old Victoria Whitman. Another person who was injured in the shooting is still recovering in the hospital. That person has been identified only as a 59-year-old man.
Police say when they arrived on scene, they found four people with gunshot wounds, all four were taken to local hospitals.
EPPD has not released any information on what led up to the shooting.
Mia Molina was a model, winning Top Model USA at a young age. She would've been 22 just a month after her death. Molina was in NMSU's class of 2025, graduating with her degree in marketing.
The Director for El Paso Fashion Week, Robert Chavez told ABC-7 Molina had a "heart of gold."
"There was no malice in her heart. There was no grudge towards anything or anybody, no hate," said Chavez.
A candlelight vigil will be held in memory of Molina at 8 p.m. on September 26 at the Mutts Westside dog park..
Victoria Whitman's family is asking the public and media for privacy at this time but gave a statement to ABC-7 that said:
"My niece was absolutely the sweetest young lady. We are going to miss her so much, she was so beautiful. We asked the public respect my family and are welcoming all condolences. She was such an innocent victim. We love her and want the public and the media to respect her and our privacy."
