Chihuahuas lose 4th straight at home

The El Paso Chihuahuas were shut out Thursday for the second time this season, falling to the Fresno Grizzlies (Giants affiliate) 7-0 at Southwest University Park. Fresno starter Mitch Lively pitched six shutout innings and struck out eight Chihuahuas hitters.

Fresno scored twice in the top of the fourth inning on a home run by Tyler Colvin. The homer landed on top of The Big Dog House, the brick building above the right-field fence. Fresno added two more in the sixth on an RBI triple by Colvin and a throwing error by El Paso catcher Adam Moore. The Grizzlies added three runs on three hits against Chihuahuas reliever Leonel Campos in the eighth.

El Paso’s best scoring opportunity came in the second inning, when Alex Castellanos tried to score on Tyler Greene’s single but was thrown out at home plate by Fresno center fielder Gary Brown. Greene went 2-for-4 in the loss for El Paso, his second straight multi-hit game.
