Chihuahuas fall in day game to River Cats
Sacramento scored four early runs against El Paso starter Matt Wisler and hung on to beat the Chihuahuas 4-1 Wednesday at Raley Field. The River Cats scored four times in the second inning in a nine-batter frame, plating two runs each on singles by Alden Carrithers and Shane Peterson. Wisler lasted two innings and suffered the loss.
El Paso’s bullpen was excellent in the defeat, with Jorge Reyes, Tim Sexton, Dennis O’Grady and Hector Ambriz all pitching scoreless outings. Reyes has not allowed an earned run in his last eight appearances. The Chihuahuas lone run came on an RBI single by DH Adam Moore in the first inning. Moore now has hits in 14 of his last 16 games.
Neither team scored in the final seven innings of Wednesday’s game. The Chihuahuas had won four consecutive day games before Wednesday’s loss. Sacramento has won two of the first three games of the series.
