Designers asking for community input on signature projects

The Quality of Life bond projects are in the works all over town, and the public is being invited to give their input on the design for the next three signature projects.

The next big projects are the multipurpose cultural and performing arts facility, the Hispanic cultural center, and a childrens’ museum, which will share part of the over $100 million budget allocated for the first three years of Quality of Life projects.
On Wednesday, HKS, Inc, the urban design firm chosen by City Council to plan the projects, held a public outreach workshop at the convention center to cover the research and development so far and gather more input from the community.

“We’ve had a terrific outreach and terrific response from the community so far,” said project manager Bryan Crowe. “And we’re really very excited with the responses we’ve gotten. And it’s a critical element, as these really are community assets, and it’s important that we have the community’s input in developing them.”

The next and final community meeting will be at the convention center July 2 at 6 p.m. There is still a chance to give your input on what you want to see in these signature projects at the meeting, where the HKS team will present the final plan and recommendations.
