Tacoma Takes Game One of Double Dip

The Tacoma Rainiers scored two late runs to come from behind and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 4-3 Saturday in Game 1 of the first doubleheader in El Paso Chihuahuas history.

The Chihuahuas scored a run in the first inning on an RBI groundout by Adam Moore and another in the second on Rocky Gale’s two-out, RBI double. A few pitches after a contested call at second on Xavier Avery’s stolen base, a play that could have ended the inning, Gabriel Noriega hit a two-run home run to tie the game.

El Paso pushed ahead in the top of the third on an RBI single by Moore. Neither side scored again until the bottom of the sixth, when the Rainiers scored twice in an eight-batter inning to go ahead. The runs came on an RBI single by Avery and a sacrifice fly by Noriega.
