Chihuahuas Lose Third Straight
The El Paso Chihuahuas came back multiple times in their game against New Orleans Wednesday night but eventually lost to the Zephyrs, 6-5. The Chihuahuas tied the game 3-3 and 5-5 at various points but Kyle Jensen’s sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth put New Orleans ahead to stay. The Zephyrs have now won the first three meetings of the four-game series.
Chaz Roe pitched the final two innings of the game and struck out six Chihuahuas to earn his seventh save. Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-4 with a solo home run for the Chihuahuas in the loss. It was Francoeur’s team-leading 13 th homer and his fourth in the last seven games. Jonathan Galvez went 2-for-4 in the loss, his fourth multi-hit game in his last six games played.
El Paso starter Billy Buckner allowed five earned runs in 5.1 innings and collected two hits at the plate. Buckner is now 4-for-8 this year batting. The Chihuahuas have lost four of their last five games.
