Thunderstorms in Upper Valley cause power outages

The Upper Valley got hit with heavy storms that caused flooding and power outages.

Homes and businesses from Sunland Park to Talbot Street experienced weather related blackouts.

ABC-7 crews found several traffic lights off of Doniphan Street not working.

Police and sheriff deputies were managing traffic in the area.

El Paso Water Service was also out restarting pumps that drain the area of excess water.

ABC-7 caught up with residents who were outside playing a game of UNO.

They told ABC-7 the lights had been out since 3 p.m.

El Paso Electric confirmed that it’s customers who were without service numbered in the thousands.

EPE officials said the blackout was weather related.
