El Paso Zoo breaks attendance records

The El Paso Zoo set a record breaking attendance in 2012 with 354,130 visitors, according to a Zoo news release. It is the first time the zoo has reached this milestone.

“Families know that the zoo is a great family entertainment package. We offer families value and fun as well as the opportunity to discover conservation together. It doesn’t get better than this,” said Zoo Director Steve Marshall in a news release.

The zoo credits the increase to strong promotion, community involvement and word of mouth.

Zoo officials said their busy season begins in March and that visitors will have the opportunity to help kick it off with “Color Coated,” an art gallery compiled of art pieces painted by the zoo’s animals and a week full of animal enrichment from March 16-24.
