Suspect in Horizon threat situation found dead inside home

UPDATE (4:19 PM)- A spokesman for the Horizon Police Department told ABC-7 that early Monday officers responded to a call of an man. around the age of 50, making threats to an individual and some of the individual's family members around 9:08 am.

Officials say that the Horizon Police Department, along with troopers from the Texas Department of Safety, arrived to the area and as a precaution evacuated nearby residents.

The FBI El Paso Crisis Negation unit was requested to assist at the request of the Horizon Police Department due to the suspect claiming to commit suicide by cop, officials say.

The spokesman for Horizon PD says that the negotiators attempted to make contact with the suspect, who was alone in the residence, but were unable to do so.

Warrants were obtained for the suspect for terroristic threat and warrants were also obtained for firearms that were believed to be inside the residence, the spokesperson for Horizon PD said.

The suspect was later found dead inside the home from what Horizon PD says was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.


HORIZON, Texas (KVIA)- The Horizon Police Department has posted an notification on their social media stating that there are officers responding to the 14000th block of Sand Gate Dr.

The HPD also says on the post that there is a heavy police presence in the area and for the public to avoid the area.
