UT Regents on Thursday to discuss buying 443 acres of land on former ASARCO site

The UT Regents on Thursday will discuss and take action on the purchase of 443 acres of land on the former ASARCO site.

UTEP officials placed the item on the agenda for the meeting in El Paso this week.

The land would be taken out of the J. Baker Survey #10 and the I.F. Harrison Survey #54 located on Paisano Dr. and I-10.

The and would be bought from the ASARCO Texas Custodial Trust “for future programmed campus expansion.”

Members of the UT Regents toured the old ASARCO site last month.
