Grupo Bafar opens first distribution center in the U.S. in El Paso’s Segundo Barrio

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Grupo Bafar is one of Mexico's largest food companies, it started operating in 1983 and in El Paso back in 1987. The Chihuahua, Mexico based company just opened its first distribution center in the U.S. in El Paso's Segundo Barrio.

Many borderland residents are familiar with their lunchmeat products and the company manufactures mostly raw materials, such as meat, chicken and pork, among others.

During this afternoon's ribbon-cutting, the company said its center will serve as the import/export operation of food coming into the U.S. from Mexico and to other countries in the world.

The Segundo Barrio warehouse features both cold and regular storage as they will be able to offer brokerage services for other area food companies that conduct international business.

The industrial complex will help revitalize the Segundo Barrio and will help attract other industries to the area, according to city and county leadership in attendance.
