Emergence’s new Behavioral Health East Campus

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Emergence Health Network says it's opening the first facility in El Paso to offer children's crisis care.
Emergence Health Network's school-based crisis intervention services students in EPISD, Canutillo ISD, Fabens ISD and now San Elizario ISD.

With Emergence's new Behavioral Health East Campus, 11 acres of land could expand access to mental health services even further.

The campus plans to service both children and adults with crisis units and even an outpatient clinic to provide continuous care.

This would be the first facility in El Paso to offer children's crisis beds.

The campus will serve youth and adults.

It will include extended observation units, short-term crisis residential services, an adult diversion center and an outpatient clinic.

The organization says it's intended to improve response times and reduce emergency room visits and unnecessary incarceration.

Emergence Health Network Chief of Staff says this new campus reflects the need for mental health care.

"The mental health needs of kids is growing. You see that nationally. You see that locally. So just the more access that kids and parents have to services, the better off they'll be. So we we're very strategic in, in making sure that we did have specialized, services for children, along with the help that adults needs as well," Rene Hurtado, Emergency Health Network Chief of Staff, told ABC-7 during an interview.
