El Paso Inc.: Airport makeover moves forward

Work will begin soon on El Paso International Airport’s new $45-million car rental facility, part of a $139-million airport facelift.

The three-story, 18-acre facility will house the airport’s rental car operations in one location, replacing the small, overcrowded surface parking lot rental car companies use today, located immediately west of the airport terminal.

The old parking lot where passengers pick up and drop off cars now will be closed beginning Saturday, April 19, and the operation moved to a temporary lot in the short term parking area in front of the terminal, airport officials said.
