Sun Metro estimates 200 cars off road thanks to park and ride program to Chihuahuas game

Early numbers show more than 430 people used the Sun Metro’s Park+Ride program Monday to go to the Downtown ballpark, according to Sun Metro’s public information officer.

Sun Metro officials estimate about 200 cars were off the road because of the Park+Ride program.

Sun Metro is offering Park+Ride to Chihuahuas games during this seven-game homesand from six locations.

The program offers direct bus service to the these games for a round-trip fare of $3. Departures from the parking lots begin an hour and a half before the game.

Passengers are reminded to have exact change ($3 round trip) for the farebox. While the farebox can issue change cards for use on Sun Metro buses, drivers do not have access to currency. Reduced fares and bus passes will NOT be accepted on these routes. Children 5 and under ride for free and must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking is free at five of the six park and ride locations and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parking at the Glory Road Transfer Center will cost $1 per hour, $10 max.
