Mayor Leeser to announce city manager finalists Wednesday

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser and the City’s human resources director will announce finalists for the city manager position on Wednesday morning.

The job was posted online in early March.

Since Nov. 2013 the City has been working with Affion Public to gather information on El Paso and meet with City Council members and various community groups to get input on what qualities are preferred and required of the next City Manager.

The city manager needs to be filled this year because Joyce Wilson, El Paso’s city manager since 2004, is set to leave the position when her contract expires at the end of Sept. 2014.

The job posting was open for 30 days. After it closes, City officials say it will take the consultants 30 additional days to review resumes and provide a list of eight to 10 candidates for City Council’s review.

Leeser and City Council members reviewed resumes and assisted in selecting the finalists that will then be interviewed by mayor and City Council as well as the citizen’s advisory group and staff panels.

The community will also have the opportunity to meet the finalists at a reception to be scheduled at a later time and provide feedback
