EPISD board president visits Beaumont, Texas in wake of BISD being taken over by TEA

The Texas Education Agency took over the El Paso Independent School District in the wake of the Lorenzo Garcia cheating scandal and now it has its sights on taking over a school district in Beaumont, Texas.

Dee Margo, the president of the EPISD board of managers, visited the Beaumont Rotary Club today and told them that if asked to serve on the their school district’s board of managers, they should do it because of the role education plays in the community.

According to published reports, leaders in Beaumont allege that incompetence and a lack of fiscal oversight are the reasons for ousting existing school board members there.

The Beaumont ISD board of trustees is appealing the decision.
