El Paso Coliseum to host Oktoberfest in September
The bulk of the German Air Force has left Fort Bliss, but El Pasoans will still get a chance to enjoy Oktoberfest – two of them in fact.
The El Paso Sports Commission announced Thursday it will host what it calls the authentic El Paso Oktoberfest.
It will take place Sept. 12-14 at the El Paso County Coliseum and will feature German beer and food, as well as a polka band.
The event will feature authentic Paulaner Wiesn Beer, which is especially brewed for the Oktoberfest in Munich, authentic beer steins made in Germany, German Food, Souvenirs and original Oktoberfest music.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12. Single day general admission tickets will be $27 and $25 for all military.
Tickets will be available at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at (800) 745-3000, or at any Ticketmaster outlet including all Wal-Mart locations. Tickets will also be available at the German Store Office (Mr. Kaiser) located on Pleasanton Road, Bldg. 516A, Fort Bliss, 79916. VIP Tables/Tickets can be reserved only by calling the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office at (915) 534-4229.
Music for the festival will be headlined by two-time Grammy nominated and Grammy award winning Polka musician Alex Meixner who will lead his band through the performances.

Gates will open at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday of the event, with music and activities running until midnight each night.
All areas will have designated seating with easily accessible bar and food booths.
General Admission single day tickets will include admission into the festival and a souvenir beer stein.
VIP tickets will include admittance into the festival, a souvenir beer stein filled with Paulaner beer, authentic German dinner, VIP parking and exclusive bar. The designated VIP tent will have its own bar and food area. It is the only area were tables are reservable, a table comes with 8 VIP tickets.
Sunday will be family day complete with games and activities for the kids as well as continued music and fun for adults. Gates on Sunday open at 11 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.
